  • Internet and Generic Modelling Safety Tips
    1. Never ever put your address or phone number in a public venue on the Internet. Especially on message boards (web boards) and your own web site. This is a very big world, and it has its fair share of nut cases. Keep your personal contact details to yourself. Always use e-mail to begin contact.

    2. If you receive an inquiry, ask to see examples of their work. The experienced photographers will have examples ready for you in their first inquiry. Also ask to see examples of the kind of work they want you to model for.

    3. Always be perfectly clear about the type of work you are looking for, especially the kind of work you will not accept.

    4. If you are interested in accepting a job, you may wish to ask to see any references the photographer may have from other models.

    5. Ensure you obtain a verifiable home or studio phone number and street address for any photographer you work with, regardless if you are working at their home, studio, or out on location. Make sure someone you know is aware of this information.

    6. If you are travelling to a photo shoot, ensure you have a backup plan if things fall over and you do not get paid. Always have enough money eat, find a place to sleep, and to get home.

    7. Unless you know the photographer, it is always good to bring a chaperone with you. Check to see if the photographer will allow a chaperone - if they don't, you should reconsider working with them. If you don't use a chaperone, ensure someone knows where you are, contact details for the photographer, and when you are expected to return.
Always ensure you operate in a safe, and sensible way by taking necessary precautions, but do not let paranoia rule you as it can destroy something that is a lot of fun! Good luck!
