Looking for some Lara Croft style guns or machine pistols (Costume) for a shoot coming up.
Any recommendations in Sydney? _________________ Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I bought some good sized plastic ones form a costume shop recently, only thing is they are mat black.
Metal versions would be better, but I can't help you there. |

Trevor,
If you can't find what you are looking for in toy stores or costume hire, trying googling "sydney armourer" for people in the Sydney film industry.
Most armourers will have no trouble providing what you need, but costs may be prohibitive. Some make their own wood replicas - they are cheaper to hire and don't require the armourer on set - they look great skulking along in a dimly lit room, but they may not stand up to inspection under a strobe and a high res still. _________________ Regards,

Trevor,
Based on the "Been There, Done That" theory, I would opt for anything at all that meant I could work without the armourer.
Having some pseudo-macho ape-man brute hovering proves to be a huge distraction to the model .... and, in turn, you.

I'd also check on the legislation in NSW regarding replica/fake/stage firearms...I'm not sure what the law is in NSW, but in The ACT they are illegal (in fact it is easier here to get a collectors license and get de-activated real ones!!!) _________________ StanB

I have done similar style shoots in Queensland where it is not illegal to purchase fake or imatation firearms.
The law states that you may use these for theatrical purposes only.
If you intend to transport these weapons it is advised you contact the police and notify them of the location you are going to be using them.
This avoids public concerns should anyone see you using them and also covers you should you be pulled over for any reason.
This is based on Queensland law. You will most probably find it is illegal to posess these items in any other state of Australia.
From experience it is far better to use a replica for authentity in the picture. Plastic toy guns just dont have the same effect. _________________ "Photography is only ever governed by your own imagination!"

How do I become a Halloween costume model? I am 16 and 90 lbs. and wanted to model Halloween costumes, for example, the models on the costume bags in Spirit, but I've tried looking online and no sites seem to help me. Is there a website just for modeling costumes, or is there another way to contact them? I will give points for Best Answer, so please help! Thanks!

| I can easily paint up a toy gun to look good enough on camera. |
